Our Story

Independent then. Independent now.

Deshima Music has roots reaching back to 1994. What began in independent label work, artist development and promotion has evolved into a modern music and production network built for how songs are created today.

The idea survived the format.

The industry changed radically between 1994 and today. The independent instinct behind Deshima did not: find strong ideas, develop them seriously and create a route from the song to the people who should hear it.

1994 / Independent foundation

Before streaming. Before platforms.

Deshima grew out of a music world in which artist development, promotion, physical formats and direct contact mattered. Releasing music meant building structures yourself, creating attention yourself and finding individual ways to move a project forward.

2024 / Reimagined

Same instinct. New possibilities.

The relaunch did not try to recreate the old label model. Deshima became a connected environment for songs, artists and production — combining independent thinking with remote collaboration and modern studio technology.

Today / The network

Distance became part of the method.

A writer, vocalist, guitarist and producer no longer have to live in the same place to build something together. Deshima uses that reality deliberately: the right people can contribute from wherever they are, while one creative direction keeps the project together.

People behind the direction.

Deshima is built around human judgement, experience and collaboration. Technology can extend a production; people still decide what the project is supposed to become.

The question is not which tool looks impressive. The question is what the song needs.

Creative freedom works best when the structure behind it is clear.

From label to network.

Deshima today is still rooted in independent music, but the structure has expanded. Songs can be developed, produced, released and connected with artists or media projects through one creative network.
